oh god, if you need to buy something from Garden Beet in the next 24hours can you please use the PayPal option as am having problems with the Google checkout……….please will some lovely computer person help me with my error codes …….when I use to work as an employee there was always some other employee who knew everything that I didnt….that just does not happen when you venture off on your own……..hopefully all should be sorted soon ….if anyone reading this feels compelled to come to my aid dont hold back…….cause I think my usual helpers are tucked away in bed
Anyway as this is a blog on design and I am having down time due to a technical error I’ll take this opportunity to have a little review of all the computer programs I use to design Garden Beet’s web page.
But first I need to make it clear that I get paid for this recommendation.
If you go to my Garden Design Blog page of my website you will see that I pay homage to a few businesses in grey boxes. These are my affiliates. These guys pay me to direct you to their web pages via there flashing graphics on my website, so they can make a sale. In turn I get between on average 8-40% of the sale – but only if you buy a product.
If you are not into this whole blog world it is very likely that you do not know that this is going on. Is it a bit naughty? Well I believe yes if the reader does not realise you are getting paid for a review. Ever wondered why there are so many review pages on the net? Anyway now that is all said I’ll leave it to the more politically correct readers to fight over the ethical details.
If I was not being paid I would not spend my working hours writing about these businesses but, nevertheless, if you were to ask me to recommend them I would, but I just could not justify the time it would take to explain why.
Enough ramble …………………..Garden Beet started because of Serif’s creative packages. Serif gave me the opportunity to tinker with web design. If Dreamweaver was my only option I would never have begun Garden Beet on-line because one, it looked too complicated and two, it is mega expensive. On the other hand I could have got a template program but I wanted more layout control – I was just not interested in going down that path- again. I had used a template web program with my newtwork provider Fasthosts (not an affiliate) and they have the lamest web design package built into their hosting service. It drove me bonkers. So hence why I choose Serif and now I love them.
Serif provide remarakably cheap programs ie the whole creative suite is under/around £100. The creative suite includes,, web design, photo editing, page layout and draw package. When compared to Adobe creative suite which is in the £1000′s, its a god send to any creative individual who has left the security of a employer and now has to buy all their own design software.
Plus the Serif support is excellent – there is a great core group in the forum who seem to love answering the most obscure question. The support staff are great plus the web design package is integrated with great e-commerce solutions . And that means you can sell stuff on your web and let a secure 3rd party site (ie google or payapl) to handle the transactions. Plus they have these other add on features like Mal’s cart and Roman Cart to assist with handling the interface between google/paypal and your website.
